We now have pre-orders on our website for select recumbent bikes and trikes. A pre-order is basically a special order from the manufacturer's warehouse. Let's say you want a Catrike 5.5.9. in purple, but all we have in stock are green and red. With our new pre-order feature, you can order the purple trike and it ships to us from Catrike's warehouse and we assemble it and size it for you. We can also add any accessories you may want added. A full down payment is required, and the order cannot be canceled once it ships from the manufacturer's warehouse. This a great option to give you the desired color and model that you want. While we do stock an extensive inventory, unfortunately, we can't stock everything. We can, however, special order items for you, whether it's a customized bike or trike, a bike we don't stock, or any parts and accessories carried by one of our many distributors. In order to place a special order, call us at 800-233-4340 or email us at salesstaff@hostelshoppe.com for a quote on the product you are interested in. Once we obtain the quote for you, if you wish to place the order, we will set up a special order and email you a payment link. A deposit of half the purchase price is required to place trike or bike special orders, and the balance of the purchase price is due when the trike or bike arrives at our store from the distributor. For a small parts or an accessory special order, the full purchase price plus shipping is due at the time of placing the order. There are no returns on special orders or highly customized orders. Extra shipping charges may apply, especially on orders from overseas.

Depending on the time of year, the item you are purchasing, or if you are coming from far away to try and pick up an item at our store, we can set up a layaway plan for you to reserve the item. Items remain at the Hostel Shoppe until they are fully paid for. With a $100 deposit, you may reserve one bike or one trike for one week for a test ride. The deposit will be refunded to you, if you do not buy the bike or trike. Or, if you decide on a different model, we can transfer the deposit to a new item you are interested in purchasing. On layaways, we require a deposit of 30% down. The deposit can be fully refunded within 30 days if you change your mind, except on special orders, which are non-refundable. After 30 days, a minimum 15% restocking fee will apply.  This can be a great option if you are on a budget, or if you want to lay a bike away until spring when the weather gets nicer. Complete shipping details must be provided to us and full payment for shipping must be paid before any shipped layaways are processed for shipping (disassembled, packaged, and labels configured).
