  • The Streetmachine Gte combines the knowledge of more than 25 years of development work in a travel and touring bike that is unparalleled. Your advantages: The high seat for the best view, the precise steering and the well-engineered accessories for even the most adventurous cycle tours.

Delivering maximum riding pleasure is the goal. Raise your legs up in comfort. With a few powerful pedal strokes you will accelerate unusually fast. After just a few minutes you’ll get the hang of it and have your new bike safely under control – agile in narrow streets and smooth-running on country roads. From now on you can enjoy cycling the most comfortable way!

  • The Streetmachine Gte is a real treat with relaxing comfort. The full suspension gives you safety, as control and road grip are improved. With a good suspension, you can ride faster. So even a tour on gravel roads can become a pleasure. Important: The quality of a cycle's suspension becomes particularly clear when carrying a great deal of luggage or riding on hills. The No-Squat suspension design of the Streetmachine Gte offers complete comfort with no performance loss. The combination of a very stiff rear frame triangle with the sophisticated positioning of the swing arm pivot point, the large ball-bearing chain idler, and the hydraulically damped rear shock effectively prevent compression due to pedaling forces and unpleasant pedal rebound. You can accelerate powerfully, even on the mountain slopes.

When sizing recumbent bikes and trikes, in addition to your height and weight, we also need additional measurements.  X-seam is the most important measurement, along with your inseam, to help us in setting the length of the trike so you can reach the pedals with proper leg extension.  If you are getting a recumbent bike or trike with a hardshell seat, seated shoulder height is important for determining seat size.  For sizing of older models of recumbent bikes, like Volae, we also need the arm length and standing shoulder height to determine stem length.  It is helpful to have someone else measure you, for the most accurate of measurements.

Proper X-Seam Measurement

X-Seam Measurement
Your X-seam measurement is essential when sizing certain recumbents. Many manufacturers have slightly different methods for measuring your x-seam. When ordering your recumbent from the Hostel Shoppe, be sure to use the method below: Place a 24 inch long board against a wall with the bottom of the board 12 inches from the wall. Sit on the floor with your back and butt against the board. Your X-seam measurement is the distance from the front of the board to the heels of your bare feet.

Arm Length/Seated Shoulder Height

Arm Length diagram

For arm length, sit with your back against the wall and shoulders in a neutral position (Extend your shoulders all the way forward, then push your shoulders tightly back against the wall - neutral is the comfortable position in between). Measure from the wall to your knuckles, as shown. For seated shoulder height, measure from the top of the shoulder bone to the floor, as shown.

Standing Shoulder Height

Measure from the top of the shoulder bone to the floor, as shown.

Inseam

While standing against the wall, position a book or board snugly as shown. Make sure the top edge of the book or board is parallel to the floor. Measure your inseam as shown.
